Endorsed by WSLC, AFL-CIO

John Duresky, Democratic candidate for WA CD-4, endorsed by Washington State Labor Council

Richland, Wash. — John Duresky, Democratic congressional candidate in Congressional District 4, has been endorsed by the Washington State Labor Council (WSLC) and American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) for the 2026 election. Duresky is one of only two first-time candidates for Congress who earned a WSLC endorsement in the state.

When asked why he can win in a district that hasn’t sent a Democrat to Congress in thirty years, Duresky said, “The working class has always been the backbone of our state and our nation. Our working families are feeling the sting of bad policy in the wallet and on the dinner table. If we don’t protect our workers, we can’t succeed as a society.”

He continued, “We want to pull the aperture back and we want to help everybody. We're not going to start dividing the district into groups. We're just going to... we want health care for everybody, not for special groups, but for everybody. We want jobs and security for everybody.”

From a union household, Duresky emphasizes his blue-collar roots and firsthand experience with government operations. Before entering politics, he served 37 years in public service, including 4 years at the Hanford nuclear site as a Project Control Officer after a 24-year Air Force career where he retired as a Major.  As a Cyberspace Operations Officer he led teams of airmen in deployed environments in network operations, influence operations, and airborne communications. John Duresky pioneered novel uses of cyber power, working with the NSA, CIA and all the major Combatant Commands.

In addition to the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, John has been endorsed by local Democrats in Okanagan, Grant, Adams, Yakima, Benton, Franklin, and Klickitat counties, the 8th and 13th legislative districts, the National Education Association/Washington Education Association, and Citizens Against AIPAC Corruption.
